This animation is based on an audio drama written by Aglaja Veteranyi. The animation puts a strong emphasis on the slightly naive tone of the young female speaker to describe her tragic history as a Rumanian refugee and her life in a circus. The sequence I chose for the animation represents the duality in perception of the young protagonist.
The dark colors and the simplified graphical elements support the dramatic character of the story. At the same time the glowing and illuminating elements create a joyful feeling inside the graphical composition in contrast to the tragic story. The melancholic atmosphere of the animation conveys the thoughts and retrospective of the young girl.
